CONCORD, NC - With Class Structure already in the hands of many competitors for the 2016 season, giving them a head start on new classes, as well as a brand new season, competitors can also be assured the 2016 version of the World Karting Association Technical Manual is not far behind. Following months of hard work by the respective Competition and Tech Committees, as well as the Board of Trustees, 2 Cycle Vice President Lynn Haddock, and our webmaster Keith Roberts, the newest version of the Tech Manual found its way to the printer earlier this week, and should be finished and ready for distribution shortly, placing the organization months ahead of last years issue, and very close to back on schedule, as October has traditionally been designated as the Tech Manual Month. While the process of printing the books is underway, members that are eligible to receive the Tech Manual should make sure if they have changed their address recently, to contact WKA, assuring the Tech Manual will find its way to the proper address. The new season for the karting world also brings some new faces to the fold on the sponsorship front for the Bridgestone Manufacturers Cup Series. With title sponsor Bridgestone returning again as the title sponsor, they will be joined by Franklinkart.com, another longtime Manufacturers Cup Series sponsor, this year sponsoring the Yamaha Junior Class.

Also returning from last season are CRPRACING.COM, sponsor of the Mini Swift Class, IAME EAST USA, sponsoring the Pro Swift Sportsman contingent, Woltjer Racing Engines returning to sponsor the Pro IAME Junior class, and KartSport North America also returning as sponsor of the Pro IAME Senior class. Additionally, Comet Kart Sales will be the official sponsor of the Fast Time awards this year. While many faces have returned on the sponsorship front, many new, and somewhat familiar faces have jumped on board, including Briggs and Stratton, sponsoring the LO206 Junior and Senior classes as part of the first race of the 2016 WKA Winter Cup. Allison Racing Engines has also jumped on board as sponsor of the Yamaha Sportsman class, while the Yamaha Senior division will be taken care of by Fullerton Karts USA. Water For A Cause also joins the Mfg Cup fold this year as sponsor of the Kid Karts this season.

And rounding out the new sponsorship to this point in the new season is Checkered Motorsports, as they will sponsor the Event Champion Trophy which will be awarded to the driver who fares the best throughout the entire event, including Qualifying, Heat Races, and Final events both days. WKA welcomes back these fines companies, and extends a warm welcome to the newest lineup of sponsors for the 2016 Bridgestone Manufacturers Cup Series. CONCORD, NC - As competitors begin to make plans to converge on Daytona International Speedway for the latest edition of Daytona KartWeek December 27-30, here are some customer friendly tips that may be of help to everyone spending the holiday week at the World Center of Racing. For those arriving prior to the Christmas Holiday, the speedway provides a section of the West Lot for trailer drop-off early, given the fact that many hotels may not have large enough parking to accommodate trailers.

The West Lot is located at Gate 40, which is the main gate competitors will be entering Dec 28-30, the day after Parking Day. Gate 40 is located off of Williamson Blvd. As a note of interest, the West Lot will not be open Christmas Day. Anyone that needs additional help once they are down there may call (386) 405-1500.

As an added note to the backside of the event, if competitors are staying in Daytona on the final evening of racing on December 30, they will be allowed to again use the West Lot to drop their trailers off, provided they pick them up before noon on December 31. If competitors are arriving on the 27 th, they will again turn onto Williamson Blvd, and follow the Directional Signs down to the first stop light, which is Midway Drive. Turn left at Midway Drive, which is parallel to the Daytona International Airport, and follow the Directional Signs to Gate 70. You will turn left into Gate 70 then be staged, then proceed to get your pit passes, as well as tow vehicle and rv passes, if you reserved a spot for the West Lot on the Dirt, or Lake Lloyd if you are competing with the Road Race or Mfg Cup Series. Customers who have reserved an RV spot need to let the officials at the window know of their reservation, and you will be issued your pass. For sponsors, there will be a designated window for Comp Passes/Sponsors. Be sure and go to this window to get your pit passes.

Competitors will the be staged, with sponsor parking starting at 8am, competitor parking to follow at 9am. By mixing 2-cycle oil with Sunoco Fuel, the official fuel for World Karting, trimming down to one specific oil will create a consistent baseline for tech officials to go. The implementation of Red Line Oil as the official sole spec oil for the Mfg Cup Series, a 2 year deal, will commence at the Margay Sprint Championships December 27-30 at Daytona International Speedway for the latest edition of Daytona KartWeek. While the WKA National Road Race Series is also part of a spec oil program, that series will continue business as usual at Daytona, with competitors following the Spec Oil Program guidelines that have been in use all of 2015. With the ever popular LO206 Senior and Junior classes joining the ranks of the initial race of the WKA Winter Cup Series at the Speedways Sprint Course, competitors need to be aware that a new set of tires will be required for qualifying on Day 1, with the same set of tires required to be used for drivers on both days of racing. With the opportunity to have the bulk of the WKA Membership in one area, World Karting Officials have scheduled their annual Membership Meeting during the Daytona KartWeek festivities December 27-30 at the World Center of Racing, Daytona International Speedway.The meeting will take place at 4:30pm Sunday December 27 in Gatorade Victory Lane at the speedway, the same victory lane the Road Race Series drivers will use for their Daytona KartWeek podium shots. The meeting will not only give members an opportunity to get updates on the progress of the organization, as well as their respective series, but to also have the opportunity to voice their views on any topics they wish to share.

Since Dec 27 serves as the official parking day for the Road Race, Mfg Cup, and Dirt Series, the bulk of the days activities will be concluded by that time of day, giving members a chance to join in the proceedings, before the latest edition of Daytona KartWeek hits the track!!! Beginning at the upcoming WKA National Road Race event at Daytona, those competitors who wish to seal their engines so they may be used in multiple race groups during a race day, should insure that they have their engines properly prepared before they arrive at the track to avoid having to drill bolts and fasteners on-site. We will no longer be using paint as a sealing method. Competitors running 2 stroke engines may refer to the procedures on page 95 (section 556) of the new 2016 WKA Techbook. Those running four stroke engines will need to drill one sidecover bolt, one valve cover bolt and one of the carb retainer bolts. (see photo's) As always, all engines will go thru post race tech at the end of each day. There is no engine sealing from day to day.

This is just a heads up to avoid having to drill fasteners at the track. CONCORD, NC - As if Daytona KartWeek wasn’t already busting at the seams, the daytime activities at the World Center of Racing will be replaced, at least on Sunday evening Dec 27 with yet another karting function, that being the 2015 Awards Presentation for the Bridgestone Manufacturers Cup Series at the Daytona Beach Resort.

Champions for the 2015 season, as well as many special recipients, will be honored, as WKA puts a wrap on a most successful 2015 national season.
